Bitter End

I messed up
I know I messed up
But this time she doesn't listen to me

As I go down my list of excuses
She looks down at her feet
Slowly shaking her head

I ask her what she wants
I ask her what she needs
She says nothing

At this point I'm panicking
I'm angry and scared
I demand that she say something

She still doesn't
Doesn't even look at me
I can tell she's trying not to cry

After what feels like an eternity
She finally looks at me
Dead in the eye

Then without a word
She starts walking away
I follow after her

I tell her how sorry I am
I beg her to stay and let me explain
But she keeps walking

I try to grab her by the arm
She yells at me to let go of her
I do

I'm done
I can't do this anymore
Do you understand?
I nod.
Jack
You were my best friend
But you've let me down too many times

I don't know what to say
I say nothing
She lets out a sigh and leaves

I tell myself this isn't real
That she'll be back tomorrow
Or at least answer the phone if I call

She doesn't

To the men who claim they respect women, Do you stand up for us? If you hear another man Talking about sexually assaulting a woman, Do you confront him? Or do you say nothing? If a friend of yours catcalls a girl, Do you shut him up and condemn him? Are you silent? Or do you laugh and join him? If a drunk guy touches a girl And she exposes him later, And you know it happened, Do you justify his actions? Or do you stand up for her? If a girl comes onto you, And she’s completely wasted, Do you stop her? When your girl says she’s not in the mood, Do you pressure her? Or ignore her? You can say you respect women all you want, But your actions are what determines if actually do. If you want to do right by women, Be a better man.

I sit in class everyday and actually listen. Not only to the teacher, but to you. You don't know my name. Sometimes you forget I exist. But I know your name. Alex. You have a dog named Sparky,. You play soccer, And your favorite color is green. I must really like you if I know all of this useless information, right? No. In fact, I think you're a jerk and a bit of a racist.
