Word Vomit

To the men who claim they respect women, Do you stand up for us? If you hear another man Talking about sexually assaulting a woman, Do you confront him? Or do you say nothing? If a friend of yours catcalls a girl, Do you shut him up and condemn him? Are you silent? Or do you laugh and join him? If a drunk guy touches a girl And she exposes him later, And you know it happened, Do you justify his actions? Or do you stand up for her? If a girl comes onto you, And she’s completely wasted, Do you stop her? When your girl says she’s not in the mood, Do you pressure her? Or ignore her? You can say you respect women all you want, But your actions are what determines if actually do. If you want to do right by women, Be a better man.

I so often wonder, What’s the point of being good? With a universe so uncaring, It’s sometimes hard for me to understand Why we even bother trying. Everything is crumbling. Where there was hope, I now see despair. Student debt piles up. People are turning on each other. Fear mongering politicians have the podium. Everyone is creating their own truths. If you don’t meet their eye, You are nothing but a lie. Lies. Lies. Nothing but lies. It’s all about the money. Guns, War, And power. Nobody cares about the future. The youth are being mocked And screwed over. It’s funny, How we claim to want to make brighter days For their sake. But it is they Who must suffer from our mistakes. Hate fuels politics. We say we’re united, When really we’re divided. Can we recover from this? Is there any use in trying? I don’t know. Even though damage has been done, It would seem cruel to turn our backs now. ...
